Be Honest, has there ever been a time, when you’ve been in your place of work or found yourself out of work, that you haven’t thought to yourself ‘there’s got to be something better out there’? Come on, yes you have. I can remember being lost in those thoughts many, many times. Straight from school in 1964 I went to work for an insurance company in the city (EC3) in the motor insurance department. I was there for 7 years. I can remember gazing out of the windows on the 5th & 6th floors in the summer, wishing I could be out there. I can even remember writing whimsical poems about it. Later on in my working life I became a receptionist for a company that was, at that time, part of the Waddingtons’ group. It was a huge open reception, & I was stuck there on my own. At quiet times, I used to wander out the glass doors, just so I could feel the sunshine.
So, why doesn’t your brain kick in & say ‘go & look for that elusive ‘something else’. It’s a shame they don’t teach things like goal setting, or how to build an entrepreneurial state of mind in school isn’t it? Perhaps we’d all start working harder on ourselves in preparation for grabbing that opportunity when it came knocking. Actually, I think I know why we don’t spot that opportunity when it first comes creeping quietly into your life, quite simply we’re looking for the big flashy sign that says ‘This is it, this is where you make your fortune’, when in truth we overlook those most humble of things, possibly like a plain old catalogue, or like a load of everyday essential products. Did you spot the words that should have shouted to you, ‘Repeat business ££££££££’? Quite simply, everyday essentials covers just about everything. Some MLMs have just one product, but when you have lots of products to offer your potential customers, like Viva MK, then the sky’s the limit.
Winston Churchill said “Some people trip over an Opportunity & get up & just walk away”.
My subject this time is MLM / Network Marketing. Now, you’ve probably realised that !!, but I hope you’ll read on, either whether you know about it or not.
This is a quote by Robert Kiyosaki. If you’ve never heard of him, just Google him to find his credentials.
“We found that one business model stood out from the rest. This particular business model creates passive income, but requires little cash investment to start up. It has very low overheads and can be operated on a flexible part-time basis until it generates enough cash flow for the entrepreneur to transition out of his current full-time job. That business model is called network marketing……”
So why oh why, when they investigate the subject (there was a BBC documentary recently) do they persistently only shine a spotlight on the bad, unscrupulous ones? Like everything in life, there are always good & bad sides. Yes of course they need to show the bad ones, but equally the good ones need to have their chance too.
I must emphasise I am not here to take on companies by saying bad things about them. I’m only familiar with a handful & I’m certainly not an expert on the subject. I just know what I know, & if you take just one thing from my message today let it be this sentence, one VERY important FACT :-
‘If the product doesn’t move, then nobody gets paid’. If you have joined, or look at joining a Network Marketing company, please remember those words.
There have been discussions galore on the MLM subject, & yes, there are some very unscrupulous people out there, but you can just check out one thing:
Does the product or the products move? Is there a product that is sold on to a customer? Or worse still, is there a product at all? By product, I don’t mean the books & CDs that they may get you to buy at the beginning. No, the actual products, & I have to really point out (because I’ve mentioned books & CDs) that if someone in the product driven company that you find, who is successful, & they recommend a book for you to read, well that’s a different matter. That is for your education & not because you have to buy it as part of the package.
